About
Sabrina Longo-Selvaggi is an illustrator, journalist, and second-year student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign studying Comparative & World Literature and Studio Art. She works digitally via Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Fresco programs. Within her artistic process, she is most fond of incorporating mixed media (e.g., vintage home magazines, tissue paper, stamps) into her digital pieces. Her style focuses on life’s pockets of joy midst distressing events like war, natural disaster, and political turmoil. More specifically, her work is inspired by the strength of people she has interviewed for publications such as Latinx drag queens and first-generation immigrants. Her goal is to illuminate that beauty and goodness is an act of defiance in our convoluted and overwhelming world.
